What happens when you
have ten digits worth of dollars and want to build the ultimate Theme Park? Well, you
would probably get something close to Universal's new Islands of Adventure in Orlando
Florida. This park is nothing short of amazing, especially considering it was nothing but
mud in 1997, two years before it's opening. Islands of Adventure finally brings the high thrill rides to the Orlando area in a grand style. None of the rides are run of the mill, every single one is exquisitely themed and well executed. The park is arranged in a large circle around a center lagoon and broken into several distinct themed areas. The entrance are is Port of EntrySM&©. To the right is Seuss LandingTM&©, an area primarily for kids but well worth looking at the phenomenal detail in the landscaping. Beyond that, we enter the Lost ContinentSM&© followed by Jurassic ParkTM&© at the rear of the park. Continuing our way counter-clockwise, we enter Toon LagoonSM&©, where the comic strips come to life and finally to Marvel Super Hero IslandSM&© and back to Port of Entry. There is enough here to keep most people of any age from kid to adult, occupied. just looking at the details in construction could take hours. All in all, it is an amazing place that has helped redefine the ultimate in theming. |
