The Park

Six Flags Worlds of Adventure is the new name given to Six Flags Ohio/Geauga Lake Amusement Park and what was Sea World Ohio. But rather than just rename the park, Six Flags made a tremendous amount of improvements for the year 2001.

For 2000, they added were four new roller coasters, a new entrance and many other internal changes. All in all the park looks excellent in it's first year of Six Flags branding. There are people who miss the old Geauga Lake but I feel Six Flags has done an excellent job with the transformation and has still kept some of the old park's character as well.

Rides

Like most major parks, roller coasters are the major ride group here but the park has a nice selection of rides to suite most people. tn-sfo-v1.jpg (8978 bytes)The oldest coaster in the park is the Big Dipper, a 1926 John Miller creation. Raging Wolf Bobs was the second wood coaster at the park. For 2000, three new high class machines are provided. The Villain is the park's third and largest wood coaster and was created by Custom Coasters International. It provides great speed and plenty of airtime.

Batman Knight Flight is the next installation of a B&M Floorless Coaster. Plenty of twists, turns and inversions with feet dangling. The most unique coaster though has to be Superman Ultimate Escape. This is the first Intamin Impulse Coaster in the US and second in the world. See the photo page for a full description.

Other coasters include the Serial Thriller inverted coaster by Vekoma, the Mind Eraser Boomerang coaster, also by Vekoma, the Double Loop by Arrow and Road Runner Express, a great family coaster by Zierer.

Plenty of water rides, spinning rides and flat rides among others round out the park's ride arsenal. An original Free Fall ride, Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall is fun. The park is also home to an antique carousel.

In addition to the waterpark, there is Shipwreck Falls™, a new chutes ride for 2000, a white water rapids ride and a flume ride.

For additional ride information, please see the Photo Gallery (upper right on this page or the Six Flags Ohio web site.

New for 2000

Three top of class roller coasters, a family coaster, new entrance, Looney Tunes™ Boomtown, Shipwreck Falls™  and Six Flags branding. And those are just the major additions! How about some shows in addition to other rides and improvements to complete the package to the tune of $40,000,000.
